The most successful people in the world are driven. They drive themselves and do not need to be told what to do. The power in this is that they only do one thing different than most people.

Setting goals for your self is quite painless and easy. Just ask your self , “What do I want to accomplish in the next six months?” The catch is to not set too many goals, because you may become overwhelmed very quickly.

The key is to not make the list of goals too large. It’s easy to get sidetracked and very easy to feel overwhelmed. Instead of trying to conquer the world overnight, why not take care of the small things first.

When you accomplish your first verbalized or written goal, you will start to feel a sense of self worth. This will provide the strength to go out and set your next goal. It really can take off like wildfire, but you need to build the foundation first.

Let’s talk about weight loss. If you are so overweight you can barely walk, then you need to make a change. The first thing to realize is that you did not become overweight overnight.

When goals are too much too fast, the end result will not be good. Even if you accomplish the goal, you will be likely to burn yourself out and not be motivated to move onto the next goal. The key is to start off slow like maybe just fifteen laps a day.

After a week or two, you might up to fifty or sixty laps. You probably will have lost a few pounds as well. By keeping this up you can realistically reach you goal over time.

The best way to accomplish a short or mid term goal is to schedule it. The more specific the time frame, the better. If the time frame is too broad, you probably won’t get it done ever.

Writing your goals down can be very effective. It helps you to keep them in sight. If you are aware of what you want to accomplish, it will be that much easier.

Once you can successfully accomplish a few short term goals, you can start to add some mid term goals. A mid term goal is something that may take one week to six months to accomplish. Long term goals may be five to ten years out.

Every person who does something wonderful usually had a game plan before they broke through. Hindsight is 20/20. One day you might look back and realize how that one goal turned into a bunch of others that kept leading to bigger and better things.
