They usually come finished if you buy them directly out of a store while if you order them they usually come unfinished.
These products are typically shipped uncoated to allow custom on-site painting or finishing. Over the years, the limited designs of the past have transformed into countless options that now come in a variety of finishes such as copper, brass, chrome plating, faux tin, whites, mochas, burgundies or bricks, silvers, gold, greens and blues. Now days, these pre-painted pieces that can be found in just about any home regardless of its style.
In addition to the many available colors and finishes, there are also numerous size options to choose from. Tin tiles come any where from 6 patterns up to 4 ft. patterns and possibly larger depending on the provider. The smaller the pattern, the more repetition you see.
The finish itself ultimately depends on your liking whether you choose the common silver or the rarely seen white styrene. Some finishes look better than others when applied to the various patterns. The more colorful the finish the more wild the patterns look so it might be a good idea, in order to maintain a modern look, to test out a finish on a few spare tiles before applying it to all of them.
Some finishes may take longer to finish depending on your likes. If you are looking for a very simple finish and you want it done by the manufacturer, it should only take one to two applications to worst-case scenario, one full day.
Even though some of the more common finishes like plain silver or copper can be very easy to apply to tin tiles, other finishes that are thicker or thinner may take additional coating to fully cover the tile. If and when you are going to be finishing your own tin tiles, speak with a provider first to make sure you are using the proper materials and techniques. As a whole, there are plenty of colors and available finishes to suite even the most unique tastes.
