If this series of events does not seem familiar to you, you either did your homework well, or either haven’t been in your home based business search very long.

You go surfing for the next, best business opportunity– the one that will put all others to shame. You give out your name, email, and phone a few times, and before you know it, your mailbox is filling up, your phone is ringing, and you see even more opportunities than you knew existed. A few of them look interesting, so you enter your information a few more times. You look up, and are positive you are getting mail from everyone in the universe. Finally, you pick one out, give them your money, put your name on the replicated company website, and wait for the money to pour in. And wait. And wait. Finally, to fight the frustration and boredom of a virgin website (not been visited by anyone but you), you start the search all over again. Sound familiar?

Spending your time googling for your next opportunity before you are making some money on your first (10th?) one, should make it obvoius to you that you did not start with the right business. If you aren’t satisfied with the products, the company, the training, or the pay plan, you might as well move on. Next time, make sure ahead of time that you are making the best choice. If you decide which business to join before you do all of your homework, you will probably find yourself in the same situation again. You must have a firm set of guidelines that your next business has to meet, our you will risk being sucked in by the hype of some website and autoresponder, more than by how the opportunity fits you and your situation.

If you would like help determining your personal guidelines, read my four article series entitled “Evaluating an Online Business– Things You Should Know…” (The video version can be found on several video sites like YouTube.) The series will give you some guidelines for working up your own checklist of what you want a business to be like, and how to stick with your guidelines. If you to start with the best opportunity for you personally, you can spend the time you now use surfing the net for another business actually working on the one you are currently in. Give your full attention to the business once you start. Force yourself to stick with it. If you don’t actually work at it, you won’t be successful, and you won’t work it unless you have chosen correctly.

Take the time to decide what you want a business to provide you with. You will find yourself far less likely to be swayed by what a business does, and way more likely to choose a business that fits you.
