Initial estimates were that as many as 235,000 evacuees ended up in Baton Rouge, and the city absorbed 650,000 sq. ft. of office space. As time goes by it is likely that as many as 50,000 evacuees will stay in Baton Rouge, thereby having a direct impact on the fate of post reconstruction New Orleans.
