Do You Know What Double Tapping Your iPhone Screen Does?

by Chris Simpson

When you first buy an Apple iPhone it is likely that you will spend the first few days working out how to use all the applications and features built into it. One thing you might not yet have come across is that there are a few hidden tricks that you could find very useful. A lot of people don’t pick these up at first because they haven’t taken the time to learn everything about their phone.

This is only to be expected though. When a phone sports as many visible features as the iPhone does it is easy to be content with that and not go on the hunt for hidden features as well. If, however, you want to maximize your use of the iPhone then it is definitely worth investing a little more time to find out about those too.

When you are interacting with your iPhone you will usually single tap on something to tell the phone what you want it to do. Pretty much everything in the iPhone’s user interface responds to a single tap. There are a few places where a double tap does something different and it is well worth learning about those since once you do you will unearth some hidden features that you didn’t previously know about.

One place where a double tap can come in handy is when you are watching a movie or video clip on your iPhone. You will have noticed that the default view is a widescreen letterbox format with blank areas above and below the movie. While this is designed to give you the full widescreen view some people find the blank areas annoying and would prefer a full screen view instead.

If you would prefer to watch your movies in full screen rather than in the widescreen letterbox format then a double tap will change the view for you. Simply double tap while you are watching a movie in letterbox format and it will change to a full screen view for you right away. Bear in mind though that some movies were designed for widescreen viewing so you may lose the edges of the picture if you do this. This can also cause a problem with subtitled movies since some of the subtitles may be lost to the narrower view.

If you want to go back to letterbox view from full screen mode then guess what? That’s right, you simply double tap the screen again and the view is restored. It really is simple features like this that give you the choice of how you want to use your iPhone that makes the iPhone such a wonderful device to own.

The double-tap feature is also used on other programs throughout your iPhone. You will find these features in the Photos, Safaris and Google Maps programs. With all of these applications, the double tap feature basically means you are going to be zooming into whatever you tapped. Say, you wanted to get a better view of the picture that is on the main page of The New York Times online edition. You would then double tap the picture, and it would be magnified two-times. Everything that is being magnified on your screen is done by two. The double tap feature is perfect for a wide variety of uses, and if you were unaware of it, grab your iPhone and begin testing it out.

Questions You Must Answer Before Your Website Goes Live

by Lisa Munoz

Either you have a website and you’ve got questions as to how effective it is, or you are thinking about getting a website to help you grow your business. Regardless of where you’re at in the online marketing world, you need solid answers to these five questions before you will be able to craft an effective online presence.

- Does your website have a goal? Many websites are designed to generate sales while others are educational websites. Still other websites’ entire purpose is to gather leads. Take the time to think of the goal of your website. The design of your website depends on your goals. If you’re not clear on those goals, your website won’t be effective.

- Does your website have a specific demographic or group of people in mind? As you make your website, all of your content, pictures, even the specific words you choose will need to be targeted towards your audience. A website for doctors will be different from a website for patients.

- How do you want people to navigate through your site? This ties in directly to a different question. If you have a clear goal, getting the customer to that goal should be clear and simple. Easy and simple navigation is much better than fancy animated redirects.

- Does each page of your website have a call to action? People often need to be told what to do when surfing the net. Otherwise, they will simply wander. Captivate, educate, and motivate.

- What will you use to determine the success of your website? Are you looking for sign-ups to your newsletter? Are you basing success on sales figures? Perhaps you want people to visit a brick and mortar store. Whatever it is, you will need to be able to measure whether or not your website is working for your business. That way you can make educated changes to your website based on real figures and statistics rather than just assumptions.

It doesn’t matter if you are doing all your own website work or if you are paying a website professional to do the work for you. You need solid answers to these questions before you start implementing a website into your marketing plans. The better answers you have to these questions, the better your website will be able to help your business grow.

GPS Car Tracking 101

by Kaye Fretz

A GPS car tracking system is basically a device that enables you to locate and track a vehicle. There are many reasons why you might want a GPS car tracking system for your vehicle. Let’s talk about how they work, what their advantages are and how you can install one yourself.

Passive GPS car tracking is used to record someone’s whereabouts in a day, week, month or year. This kind of car tracking is generally more affordable. It simply records the waypoints between a vehicle’s travels. At the end of the day, these waypoints are recorded in a computer.

Now moving on to the active GPS tracking system, this one can document extra data. It can document the pace at which a vehicle is running in real time. Data is transferred instantly to a computer or mobile phone. Because this sort of car tracking device can document data in real time, it oftentimes has a higher pricetag.

The benefits of owning a GPS car tracking system are numerous. First, you can get immediate assistance in case you’re in trouble. All it takes is a press of a button in your car if a robbery is taking place, and information will be relayed straight to a GPS carrier through your GPS car tracking system. Someone from the carrier service or the police themselves will then assist you immediately.

If your vehicle does end up getting stolen, a GPS car tracking system can make searching more efficient. Without a tracking system, there may be chances of you not getting your car back. A car tracking system can give you the reassurance that you’ll definitely be having your car restored in a shorter time.

Now when you unintentionally lock yourself out of your own vehicle, you might regret not getting a GPS car tracking system. If you have one and this incident occurs, your service can unlock your car just like that. The service can even set your car’s lights on to catch your attention in case you forgot where you parked!

When traveling, your car may also start losing gas or breaking down completely. During times like these a GPS car tracking system can be very useful. All you have to do is set off the tracking system and you will be assisted in due time.

Furthermore, if you’re a parent you can definitely benefit from a GPS car tracking system. Rather than questioning your kids all the time, why not have a tracking system readily fitted in their vehicle? If you fear for your child’s safety on the road, a tracking system can help you monitor just how sensible your child’s driving is.

To fit a GPS tracking system, sort out your screwdriver, scre bit, drill, crimps, solder gun, solder and wire strippers. Study product instructions and plant the CPU below the dash. Fit the CD player and connect a cable into the CD player and CPU.

Secondly, plant the GPS antenna into the dashboard corner close to the windshield. Fit the GPS antenna cable to the CPU and fit the microphone on the automobile’s ceiling next to the rearview mirror. Fit the microphone to the CPU using a cable. Last of all, refer to the product procedures in programming your GPS car tracking system.

When deciding on a GPS car tracking system, know your exact requirements as well as your budget. In general, a tracking system will help you breath better when it comes reliable assistance and the safety of your car.
